Schadensbild durch Hurrikan Wilma:
Durch die schnelle Zuggeschwindigkeit hat sich Wilma bei Ihrem Zug von der West- zur Ostküste kaum abschwächen können. In der Region Miami - Fort Lauderdale sind die Schäden daher wohl erheblich. Mit jedem Tag schreiten jedoch die Aufräumarbeiten voran und die Lage dürfte sich bald bessern.

The City is working diligently to clean up and restore Miami after the damage sustained by Hurricane Wilma.

Curfews Remain In Effect

Officials continue to enforce a curfew in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, but the hours have been shortened.

Residents in Broward County must be home from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m.

In Miami-Dade, the curfew is now from midnight to 6 a.m.

The only exception for breaking the curfew is for emergencies and people going to and from work.

Officials discontinued the curfew in Monroe County.

The Lower Keys and Key West are scheduled to open to tourists Monday as South Florida continues its recovery from Hurricane Wilma.

Since the storm hit on Oct. 24, only residents have been allowed in the Key West area.

Tourists may find it a bit rough as clean-up continues.

A number of traffic lights are still out and debris, broken glass, toppled trees and downed power lines in some areas have made an obstacle course for motorists.

Hundreds of thousands of people in South Florida are bracing for the idea that it could be weeks more before they can use their refrigerators, watch television, take a hot shower or use a stove.

A spokesman for the state's largest utility, Florida Power and Light, said power has been restored to 60 percent of customers who lost electricity because of Hurricane Wilma.

About 384,400 customers in Broward County and more than 275,800 in Miami-Dade County were still without power early Sunday.

Florida Power said it could be almost Thanksgiving before all the lights are on in South Florida.

The countywide curfew has been lifted. The following cities are imposing curfews from 11 p.m.to 6 a.m.: Sunrise, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Hallandale Beach and Wilton Manors. In addition, Dania Beach and North Lauderdale are under curfew from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday.
